How we met Martha

Meet Martha

Seventy foot in length and if she handles like the last one she'll turn on a sixpence

It's all in the brochure that Karen sent

Why did we choose this boat?
Easy question to answer because at the end of our last cruise she moored next to us and Karen told us to go on board a take a look. We liked what we saw. It has to be said there was nothing wrong with 'Sophia' our last boat. However. 'Sophia' has been sold

Why this firm?
Probably take too long to answer in full. Briefly, Karen knows what she's talking about and nothing was too much trouble when we had our last holiday. Boat very well equipped and mechanically perfect. The location was also a factor as we intend to cruise the Caldon Canal and Stone is just a throw away from the start of that magnificent waterway

An additional benefit is the inclusion of fuel in the holiday cost. Some firms charge extra for this and those that do are never likely to get our business

It has to be noted that a previous holiday with Cheshire Cat Narrowboat Holidays (2012) which was first class, showed the advantages of using an independent business as opposed to the accountant run big players that seem to know the cost of everything and the value of nothing. Having pointed that out it's a fact that we've had good holidays with the big firms, it's just they are too expensive

Who is Karen?
Easy one to answer. Karen runs the business and knows it inside out. She is at the forefront of customer service. Our experience of what to expect of a canal holiday goes back to the mid sixties, when a gangplank was a must and hot water was something you dreamt about

It's Booked!!!

An easy decision

Our three wise men pondered the question as to where we would go in 2014, if there indeed was to be a next time. We made the decision before the last holiday ended really. The only difficult question was when? We knew where and we knew which firm we would be hoping to use. the outcome is the later end of Spring.
