let the countdown commence

Our calling card

Our latest calling card
Trying for an iconic business type card didn't seem to work this time round. The picture you see was taken at Consal Forge on the last holiday, late in 2013, during a break in the rain. It fits in well with the unique heritage of this canal. Years ago this place would have been a hive of activity, now it stands as a memorial to those long since gone. You have to stand here to appreciate the atmosphere that surrounds this amazing location

It's only a matter of days before our three explorers once again take to the canal for another holiday where the past meets the present. It's a great feeling

During our time on this canal we shall partake of some liquid refreshment in the form of 'Real Ale'at various establishments along the route. There has been a real growth in demand for real ale and that's not surprising given the mass produced insipid liquid the major players would have us drink. At the same time it's worth noting, at the time of writing, national statistics show that an average of 28 pubs are closing a week. That's a frightening statistic and frankly shows how difficult life can be in the licenced trade. All the facts are available by looking at the Campaign for real Ale website and their publications
